2008-09-09 The Hatchery

Hatchery

Tuesday the call was the Hatchery. We headed out early (10:30...). Kent and I were the first on the water. The first hour was the best for me - 5.6m sail on "Free" board. The wind was quite gusty and shifty to say the least, but we sailed all day. In the afternoon, I dropped to my 4.8 Hucker sail and Comp Wave board. Most of the time it worked great, but other times it was either way too much, or I was swimming waiting for a puff. Sail sizes for the guy's ranged from 4.2 to 5.6. It was a physically hard day for everyone, but we had a lot of hours on the water. Later in the day, the waves smoothed out, for some great rides. I am practicing riding the wave unhooked...
Munsch a Bunch of Miles for Literacy.... I spoke with my friend David Samm yesterday. David and his wife Helen, along with friend Allan Ford are riding their bikes from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Camrose to raise funds for literacy programs. Today they are in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan.
They stop at Elementary schools to read to kids. While they are having fun, the weather is not being friendly. It is cold and very windy - they have been battling headwinds the whole trip. David said he would send some of the wind this way, if I would send some of the Oregon heat his way. Might work. I have been fun maintaining a Blog of their trip.
