2008-09-08-Easterly at Bob's Beach

Temira's forcast was dead on. Easterlies at Stevenson, but early. We headed out early (by our standards). I arrived just before 9, and was on the water by 9:10. I was really powered on my 5.6 and had some great runs in very steady wind. Around 10 (when the other guy's were starting to go out...) it dropped off a bit. I came in and re-rigged to my 6.6 and had another hour. Everyone sailed, and everyone had fun (except maybe Mike who tried to make his 5.2 work on a small board - lots of good practice slogging).
Harold won the day. He can plane in a FART - so he stayed out long after the rest of us were beached.
It was a beautiful day (around 80f) so we "Rested" on the beach and had very lazy day.

Jim getting his beauty sleep.
Kent had a good day!

Blaine is relaxed
Harold sucked the last bit of wind out of the river.....
Apparently our wives (the Wind Widows) have organized a Dinner for Thursday Night.
Kent sent a note home, forbidding Lorna to attend. Below is a photo of Kent after receiving the bullet that came through the email. It appears that in spite of our concerns that an independent moderator should be required at this meeting, that the event will proceed even without or approval.
Meanwhile, Lucille has decided to have a mini vacation in Victoria with her sister. Obviously she didn't know there would be this wind widow convention.
Hopefully the women will determine that these wind surfing events should occur more often than just twice a year. Probably eh!

In spite of early talk about getting back to the house for a bike ride, we sat around the beach to long, so only had time for some shopping.... I bought a new rear sproket for my road bike, so I can gear down more to make the hills a bit easier (but slower).
We went to Double Mountain Pizza for supper. After supper, Ross and Andreas arrived, with wildly exaggerated, and unsubstantiated tales of wind and surf on the Coast.......... photos may follow....
